What is wordlist?
A file or script containing a huge list of passwords is known as wordlist. This file contains numbers, uppercase letters, lowercase letters or special characters. They may be mixed or not.
Types of Brute Force Attacks
Simple Brute Force Attack
A simple brute force attack uses automation and scripts or files which contains a list of passwords which is guessed by brute force attacking tools. These type of passwords are easy to guess. In a research in 2012, researcher found that computer clusters are used to guess up to 350 billion simple passwords passwords per seconds.
Dictionary Attack
Dictionary attack tries combination of different - different words and phrases which contains numbers also. Nowadays, dictionary attack uses passwords which is leaked on dark web.
It takes less time from simple brute force attack to guess the password.
Credential Stuffing
Credential stuffing attack uses the login credentials which is stolen by computer clusters previously. Which makes an easier task for clusters.
Reverse Brute force Attack
Reverse Brute Force Attack is a technique where they use their victim's personal data like usernames, old passwords, combination of old passwords, accounts numbers, birth dates, parent's details and family details etc.
Hybrid Brute Force Attack
Basically, he hybrid brute force attack is the mixture or combination of both the two brute force attacks of the traditional brute force attack and dictionary brute force attack.
